Moot Court Board Congratulations
Issue date: 1/26/10 Section: News
The Moot Court Board would like to congratulate all of the teams it sent out last semester to competitions throughout the United States on their successes! Notably, the last three teams to compete last semester performed exceptionally well. The first team, Craig Rust and Adam Aft, participated in the Pepperdine National Entertainment Law Moot Court Competition during the second weekend in November. After winning third place brief with editorial assistance from Tom Cummins, Craig and Adam advanced to the semi-final round, where they argued in a close match against Texas Tech.
Our last two teams to go out also performed remarkably well at the Virginia Bar Association's regional qualifier for the New York Bar Association's National Competition. Between both George Mason teams, GMU swept the competition. The first team consisting of, Nicole Burns, Amir Katz, and Rosie Rust, took home the best brief award, and advanced to the semi-final round, where they went head-to-head against George Mason's second team comprised of Tim Silvester, Josh Newborn, and Kat Ciano. In a very close round, the second George Mason team advanced to the finals and won. Tim Silvester also took home best oralist for the competition. Due to their victory, Tim, Josh, and Kat, will compete again in New York this upcoming February.
With the next semester now under way, the Board would also like to wish the George Mason teams competing this semester the best of luck in their extramural competitions. We hope they experience similar success to the teams that competed last fall.
