Moot Court Hosts Competition
Issue date: 1/23/07 Section: News
On February 2nd and 3rd, the George Mason Moot Court Board, in conjunction with the Law & Economics Center, will host the annual Henry G. Manne Law & Economics Competition.
This year, twelve teams from around the country will compete. Teams will argue opposing sides of an antitrust dispute involving allegations that an electronics manufacturer engaged in a price-fixing conspiracy with resale distributors. The problem requires competitors to present an economic analysis of legal issues that are currently receiving national attention. There are many similarities between the competition problem and a case recently decided in the 5th circuit, Leegan Creative Leather Products, Inc. v. PSKS, Inc. The day after the competition problem was posted, the Supreme Court granted certiorari on the case.
The teams will present their oral arguments on Saturday, February 3rd. The winners will be announced at a reception that evening. The competition continues to grow every year, and strengthens George Mason's reputation as a center for the study of law and economics.
The George Mason Moot Court Board proudly welcomes its newest members: Stephanie Arnold, Patrick Foltz, Patrick Hitchens, Claudia Jiron-Murphy, Ed O'Shea, Echo Schaub, & Ryan Schmalzle
Congratulations!
